Meet Blackburn Plumbing, Air & Electric: Plumbing, HVAC & Electrical for Durant, Sherman & Denison
Chapters

Every home around Lake Texoma runs on the same three things: water, air and power. When one of them quits, or a home inspection flags a problem in the middle of a sale, you want a local pro you can call without a lot of guesswork. That's why we're glad to welcome Blackburn Plumbing, Air & Electric as one of our newest preferred partners. They handle plumbing, heating and air, electrical and aerobic septic work across Southeastern Oklahoma and North Texas, with offices in Durant, McAlester, Sherman and Denison.

A Texoma Family Business Since 1975

Blackburn's story started in 1975 with a small shop in Blue, Oklahoma, just east of Durant. Founder Sam Blackburn was a tradesman who believed in treating every customer like family. Today his son, Billy Blackburn, leads the company and carries that same approach forward.

More than 50 years later, Blackburn has grown into a full-service company serving homeowners and businesses on both sides of the Red River. They've also been recognized in the Best of Texoma awards, including Best Plumbing Company and Best Heat & Air Company.

What Blackburn Does

Plumbing

Blackburn's plumbers cover the everyday stuff and the big jobs, including:

  • Water heaters: tank and tankless water heater installation and repair
  • Leaks: leak detection and slab leak repair
  • Drains and sewer lines: drain and toilet clogs, hydro jetting, sewer line repair and replacement, including trenchless sewer repair
  • Repiping and gas lines: whole-home repiping plus gas line installation and repair
  • Water quality: water softeners and water filtration systems
  • Upgrades: shower installation, bathroom remodels, garbage disposals and sump pumps
  • Backflow prevention and plumbing service agreements

Heating & Air Conditioning

Texoma summers are hard on an AC unit, and a cold snap can catch an old furnace off guard. Blackburn's HVAC team handles:

  • AC: installation, repair and seasonal maintenance, plus ductless mini-split systems
  • Heating: furnace repair and replacement, heat pumps and air handlers
  • Ductwork and filter replacement
  • Indoor air quality: humidifiers, dehumidifiers and UV air sanitizers
  • HVAC service agreements for regular tune-ups

They work with well-known brands like Trane, Lennox and American Standard on the HVAC side, and Navien and Rinnai for tankless water heaters.

Electrical

Electrical work is part of the Blackburn lineup too, which is handy when an inspection report calls out wiring, outlets or a panel along with a plumbing or HVAC item. Give them a call and describe what you're dealing with so they can point you to the right tech.

Aerobic Septic Systems

A lot of homes around the lake and out in the country aren't on city sewer. Blackburn installs and repairs aerobic septic systems, which is a big help for rural and lake properties. If you're new to septic, our guide to the types of septic systems in Oklahoma is a good primer. And for a real-world example, read how a $7,000 septic fix got one of our Calera sales to closing.

24-Hour Emergency Service

Burst pipes and dead AC units don't keep business hours. Blackburn offers 24-hour emergency plumbing and HVAC service, and they also offer financing options for bigger repairs and replacements.

Why This Matters When You Buy or Sell

Plumbing, HVAC and septic items show up on inspection reports all the time. Here's where a trusted pro helps:

  • Buyers: after your home inspection, a licensed plumber or HVAC tech can tell you what an item really means and what a fix should cost. That gives you solid footing for repair requests. Our Texoma home buying guide walks through the full process.
  • Sellers: servicing the AC, fixing a slow leak or getting the water heater checked before you list can head off surprises later. Our guide to selling your Texoma home covers more prep tips.
  • Lake and rural homes: if the property has an aerobic septic system, it's smart to know its condition before closing.

Questions to Ask Before Repairs

Whoever you hire, we encourage you to ask:

  • Are you licensed for this work in my state? (Blackburn lists its Oklahoma and Texas license numbers on its website.)
  • Can I get the quote and the scope of work in writing?
  • Is it a repair, or does the system need to be replaced? What are my options?
  • What warranty comes with the parts and labor?
  • Do you offer financing or a service agreement?

Written quotes are especially helpful during a sale, since you can share them with your agent during repair negotiations.
